It would cost as much to drive there as it would to fly there. More, since I'd likely have to stop in a hotel to sleep somewhere cuz I can't sleep in cars. And the fact that I'd put 6k km on my car and have to pay an extra 15-35 dollars just to park it at the hotel every day....
1) There are, like, six million flights between Atlanta and Regina via Delta every day. Plus, it's a six hour flight with one layover. 2) I don't do luggage - bare minimum allll the way. I'll be lucky if I have over five pounds of stuff on the way there. 3) The Regina airport is the most boring and dead airport ever. 4) I like people, for the most part. 5) That's a DOWNSIDE? The flying is the BEST PART.
PS: You should totally drive down to Atlanta and go to D*C with me. We could party with Klingons!!
Oooooh, hotel rooms may be difficult - they seem to be selling out pretty quickly (the four host hotels are (sorta) sold out already) and I've been warned quite a few times that the hotel room booking is the hard part (hell, there's an LJ comm devoted purely for getting hotel rooms at D*C, no joke). Hence the reason why I have already booked a hotel room. Haven't bought a pass yet, but damned if I don't have a hotel room. (It helps that hotel rooms are easy to unbook but con passes...? Not so much.)
On that note, go for the Days Inn if you're going to stay downtown since that's where I booked and apparently it has free wifi and breakfast. And it is like four minute walk from the con.
If there is one, it isn't one of the con recommended hotels (which have shuttle buses). I can't remember where I stayed at in Calgary, but it was something like that Days Inn or Holiday Inn or whatever.
