New Theme

Hey look, I found a theme that almost matches the main site. Hence the change.

(Okay, the real reason is that I needed a different theme cuz the old one was busted for user registration. Yeah, idk either. Also, twenty bucks says that nobody reads this. :3)

God dammit Kel! And, noooo, I need that 20 bucks! I have to save for plane tickets. And hotel rooms, but, daaaamn, hotels are cheap in America!

Yay, I'm glad you like, kygal. :3

...is that twenty bucks per, or just for the first reader? I have to do my Christmas shopping, you know, and Bose Sounddocks aren't cheap.

Noooooo I need all the money or I can't afford to fly to Georgia!!

You can drive to Georgia. You're the one bragging to me about how ten hours is barely a cross-town trip for Canadians, so I would think across two countries would just be a pleasant diversion, :P

It would cost as much to drive there as it would to fly there. More, since I'd likely have to stop in a hotel to sleep somewhere cuz I can't sleep in cars. And the fact that I'd put 6k km on my car and have to pay an extra 15-35 dollars just to park it at the hotel every day....

Mathematically, flying is cheaper.

Driving, however, allows you to set your own schedule, carry whatever luggage you like, avoid airports, other people, and, hello, flying...

(As you have probably gathered, I am not exceptionally enamored of airplanes. I am very much an Earth-element and far too paranoid.)

1) There are, like, six million flights between Atlanta and Regina via Delta every day. Plus, it's a six hour flight with one layover.
2) I don't do luggage - bare minimum allll the way. I'll be lucky if I have over five pounds of stuff on the way there.
3) The Regina airport is the most boring and dead airport ever.
4) I like people, for the most part.
5) That's a DOWNSIDE? The flying is the BEST PART.

PS: You should totally drive down to Atlanta and go to D*C with me. We could party with Klingons!!

(laughs) You're obviously not an Earth-element.

And, yeah, I'm definitely considering it. Would be a lot of fun if I can swing it! What do the passes run?

Water, probably. At least that's what the thing on my wall says.

Eighty bucks for all three days. Well, until February something or other - the prices steadily go up and eventually reach 120.

I should, hopefully, be sufficiently recovered from my Christmas shopping by February to afford that and book a hotel room....

Oooooh, hotel rooms may be difficult - they seem to be selling out pretty quickly (the four host hotels are (sorta) sold out already) and I've been warned quite a few times that the hotel room booking is the hard part (hell, there's an LJ comm devoted purely for getting hotel rooms at D*C, no joke). Hence the reason why I have already booked a hotel room. Haven't bought a pass yet, but damned if I don't have a hotel room. (It helps that hotel rooms are easy to unbook but con passes...? Not so much.)

On that note, go for the Days Inn if you're going to stay downtown since that's where I booked and apparently it has free wifi and breakfast. And it is like four minute walk from the con.

Yay! Days Inn is also one of the cheapest hotels (and my true motivation shows through).

Relatively decent chain, I've stayed with them before. La Quinta is the best of the budget hotels that I've ever been in, but I don't know if there's one in the area or attached to the Con.

If there is one, it isn't one of the con recommended hotels (which have shuttle buses). I can't remember where I stayed at in Calgary, but it was something like that Days Inn or Holiday Inn or whatever.
