Could be worse - you could be sitting around at 11:30 on a Wednesday and watching Star Wars. Y'know, directly after you cried during an episode of Criminal Minds.

It's now 1 am for me, and I am going to bed after a successful evening of writing, like a sane human being. Obviously, there is something wrong, because I am not sane, .

It is midnight. I have half an hour left of this movie. Conclusions (now that I've seen it as an adult): the characters are all very whiny.

True, but with good reason. Ben's had someone he loved try to kill him, Luke's been raised by idiots, Han.... well, Han brought it all on himself, but still.

They're all whiny. Leia is especially whiny but her bossiness more than makes up for it.

If you had to be chained to a giant slug wearing a tin bikini, you'd whine too, And yes, I know that's the wrong movie, but still.

Actually, the whiniest character is totally Vader. "You disagree with me?" FORCE STRANGLE.

Yes, but that is WICKED EFFING COOL. <3 the Force Strangle. As long as it's not being used on me, at least.

lawl true.

Ahhhh I'm such a shipper Han/Leia ftw.

Also, Jack = Han. Totally. I can't believe I didn't notice that until now. Of course, the last time I saw these movies I was twelve.

Han/Leia is good for the originals, but of course I ship Obi/Ani for the prequels.

EU? Huh?? All I'm coming up with is European Union, and I really doubt that has anything to do with Star Wars.

And the prequels were fun. They give us yaoi angst.

Extended Universe. IE, all of the tie in novels, comics and video games.

Which reminds me, I really wanna play some KOTOR.

Ah. Given that all I've read is the novelizations of the movies, I am understandably in the dark. Eventually, I am sure, I will get around to collecting and reading all of the SW novels. Just because that's the way I am with books.

There are about six million of them. Not as bad as Star Trek, I think, but worse because it is canon. Ish. Unlike Trek.

(A few years ago, I had downloaded EVERY Trek novel that had ever been published up until that date. I think I read one of them.)

I have a few of the Trek novels, but the only two I've read more than once are 'Vulcan's Heart' and 'Mosaic.' The nice thing about the latter is that it actually is canon. VH, as far as I know, is not canon, but an exceedingly well-written story none the less.

I'm pretty sure Mosaic is the one I read. That the one with Janeway and her angsty past of doom where she was all mopey and depressed in bed for three months after her fiance and father died until her sister was POW with the water?

It was all just so crazy melodramatic and, well, read like fanfic.

The fact that the others didn't really read like fic is actually why I didn't bother with them, XP

The odd thing is, Mosaic is canon, 'cuz it was written by... uhm, one of the writers or producers or something... my memory is shot. The rest of them really are glorified fanfic. And of varying quality.

Ehhhh, it's semi-canon. More canon than the rest of the novels but not as canon as the show.

Which isn't really saying much because there is an episode of Voyager so bad it has been decanonised.
