Ah. Given that all I've read is the novelizations of the movies, I am understandably in the dark. Eventually, I am sure, I will get around to collecting and reading all of the SW novels. Just because that's the way I am with books.
I have a few of the Trek novels, but the only two I've read more than once are 'Vulcan's Heart' and 'Mosaic.' The nice thing about the latter is that it actually is canon. VH, as far as I know, is not canon, but an exceedingly well-written story none the less.
I'm pretty sure Mosaic is the one I read. That the one with Janeway and her angsty past of doom where she was all mopey and depressed in bed for three months after her fiance and father died until her sister was POW with the water?
The odd thing is, Mosaic is canon, 'cuz it was written by... uhm, one of the writers or producers or something... my memory is shot. The rest of them really are glorified fanfic. And of varying quality.
