My husband has family in Washinton DC...we need to give them a call. They live in "the burbs". Hope everyone can dig out. What a mess...but a very pretty one!

Best wishes to them! Traffic's moving here on the main roads, but there are still cars stranded hither and thither here, particularly where the ploughs have thrown up piles of snow across the bottoms of secondary roads in their ploughing of the main ones. James saw a four-wheel dive Jeep stuck on top of one of those plough-piles yesterday.... almost funny, if it weren't quite so alarming.

Poor Nikki - we're taking over her thread to talk about our snow! We got about 15 inches - spent way to much time shoveling our walkway/driveway today - they say more snow on Thursday and if that happens, I will cry. Snow is not beautiful - it is cold wet and nasty. It is why I no longer live in Pennsylvania.

It's pretty in Virginia, because it doesn't last long, and I don't have to work in it for twelve hours a day. My job has nice heaters, :D

Well, Nikki's managed to drag herself out of her self-imposed fanfiction exile long enough to write a short and brilliantly funny Castle piece, found here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5733310/1/

Fellow authors will particularly appreciate it, :D

Vacation from forums combined with a return to school. It screws with my head.

Your head is screwed enough to begin with, I don't think it's going to do any kind of damage,

'Hanging like old times' ? Evidently they've known each other for a while, then. Same college, maybe? Not sure what the age difference is between them...?

Two years. If I remember Nathan's age correctly.

Apparently I did not. It's actually four years - Nathan was born in '71, Eddie in '67. As for the same college... unlikely - Nathan did his schoolings in Canada and I'm pretty sure Eddie is American.

They were both in Desperate Housewives, though... in different years.

Eddie's actually the older one? Funny, I wouldn't have guessed that.

(shrugs) Well, two men of similar age, general appearance and personality are likely to be cast in or considered for similar roles.... Maybe they met in the business then? I'm going in too many directions right at the moment to IMDb them both, but maybe they worked together pre-Desperate Housewives?

As I said in an email to you, they worked on different shows at the same time. Musta been in the same lot.

And, yeah, I woulda thought that Nathan was the elder of the two.

omg I just lost my cursor for several minutes. No, I'm not a dip - my mouse is dying and it did SOMETHING that caused my cursor to completely disappear. I only found it because, by fluke luck, I rolled over the topic review link and the link details thing showed up in Chrome. Maaaan I do not want to know how much time I woulda spent going left if that didn't happen.

...have you considered replacing your mouse?

Heh, one of our cats once killed a mouse. A computer mouse. Kept throwing it on the floor and pouncing on it until it broke. Taking the job a little too seriously, maybe?

Yes, but it will cost me 80 dollars (before tax) to do so, iirc. I'm getting to the point where I'm just going to break down and do it already.

'sides, the upgrade will come with super scrolling - you have no idea how many stupid ass pdfs I have to scroll through due to school.

Aah, blows the comic budget, does it?

And I can guess. Have you tried Ebay and Amazon? You might get lucky. I take it you're looking for a specific sort of supermouse?

eBay is selling them refurbished for a whopping five bucks cheaper when you include the shipping... as for Amazon... they rarely ship electronics to Canada and amazon.ca is still pretty crap at stocking them. NCIX and newegg.ca aren't much cheaper either.

And, yes, it blows the comic budget and starts gnawing it's way into the gas money. I've actually spent under 20 bucks on comics in the past two weeks and this week is going to be a 13 dollar one... and the end of two of the miniseries I'm reading so, pow, seven dollars a month gone there!

(Buuut, on the downside, DC is bringing back Birds of Prey with Gail Simone as the writer so, dammit, I have to read that title. And they're starting up a Zatanna title and omg backwards magic ftw! AND Marvel is doing a women-in-comics miniseries starting either next month or the month after and I have to read that just to criticise it... but, then again, iirc Gail Simone is involved so GUH.)

(blinks)

Hey, it was worth a try. Last month I got a $700 saddle and a $100 gullet system on Ebay for less than $375, total. And that includes shipping. Sometimes you get lucky.

Alas, electronics don't usually involve sales on ebay unless it's refurbished or beaten to shit. Also, it's just easier to wait for the inevitable 50% off sale.

True enough. I guess electronics on Ebay is starting to get dominated by larger 'stores,' the same way a lot of other categories are. I got lucky with my saddle because I found a private seller; the Ebay Stores would have charged at least $500 for it. (Paid: $265 [and very happy to brag!])

What kind of mouse is it that you're looking for, exactly?

Dammit, I wrote stuff and I realised my internet was going to die so I saved it to my clipboard... and then promptly overwrote it with my credit card number (which I copy and pasted from somewhere else). Lovely.

Anyway, this is the mouse I want. I have an older version of it and it fits pretty much perfectly in my hand. Though my mouse IS working again (wtf does it only die on Saturdays?) and now I have no clue wtf I should be doing. Maybe if I put the receiver on one of the usb ports in the front of my computer...
