Hey guys! Thank you very much for all of the feedback. I need to do an editing run of chapter 2 before I post it, but that should happen by Friday. Hood and Rachel make their appearance soon! I REALLY appreciate the responses that I have gotten! :D

Wow Numbat! Thank you very much for the praise! I am having a lot of fun with this story and I'm glad other people like it too. Yeah, I hate that the show is canceled. Hmm...maybe we should all write scripts and bombard the TV networks  . Ha! Thanks again for reading and reviewing. I will try to keep posting regularly.

Very nice work! I'm impressed that you are doing such a case based piece of fiction. They are hard, since the necessary science is so daunting. I like the Hood and Rachel interaction, it seems right for early in their association. And tell me that Nuse Alma makes a reappearance, she's so wonderfully obnoxious. Ohhh, just wait til she finds out Hood isn't a medical doctor, she'll be twice as rude!!!

Thanks again guys! EHfan - no worries! Nurse Alma will be back. She's a lot of fun to write - one of those characters that you love to hate (oh, and writing the responses of Hood and Rachel to her is a blast). As for the case-based aspect - there is going to be a fair amount of science later on (I hope that I don't scare people off). Thank you all so much for reviewing - it makes my day!

Oh you just know that Rachel is gonna end up kicking some Nurse Alma butt. There is only so much rudeness she'll tolerate.

Hello again! How have you guys been? I posted the next chapter on fanfiction.net. It hasn't shown up on the site quite yet, but I would imagine that the link would be http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5900326/4/Potential. I hope that you enjoy the latest installment. Take care! :)

Hi guys! As promised, I am back with an update a bit sooner than I originally intended. The next chapter is short also, but you can find it at http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5900326/5/Potential. Thanks for your comments! Yeah, I know that some of the chapters are a bit short, but I am trying to end them at the most natural points (as opposed to shooting for a specific link).

Hmm...after hints are you? Well, the tour of duty overseas has nothing to do with the story, but the dog does (just not in the way that you might be thinking). I have to say though that you are very unlikely to guess what's going on - I did my best to offer Hood a challenge that wouldn't come up every day and it gets pretty complex. I hope that you guys keep reading and that you like my new chapters. Thanks again to all of my readers! :D

I think Hood forgets not everyone is super-human like him and needs rest...poor Rachel. I do love all the EH ff but it is nice to have one about a case as others have mentioned. Do you have a medical or science back-ground?

Hmm, a challenge! So it's a virus (maybe) and the dog is involved. Since you gave the hint that it's not the way we think, does that mean the virus is not some kind of canine virus mutant? Ohhh, did they all visit the same park????

Like kygal, I'm also interested, do you have a medical/science background. Or are you just real, real, real, good at researcing?

Interesting chapter. The interaction between Hood and Rachel very much reminded me of the series. He, intent on getting answers, she, starting to get a little crabby, not liking the lack of action.

Looking forward to how you develop the story.

Wow, thanks again for the reviews. I am trying to make the interactions as believable as possible and I really love to hear that I am portraying the Hood/Rachel dynamic well. To answer both of you, I do have a science background. I am a research scientist at the University of Wisconsin trying to get a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology (aka: I am a graduate student). However, quite a few of these things I did need to do some research on as well. I am glad that I am doing a good job on the science side of things.

You are on the right track, but not quite there. There is no canine mutant virus, but there is a connection with the dog.

Thank you very much for the nice comments! I am really glad that people are enjoying the story! :D

Are you in Madison? My husband's family is mostly there. Nice town, but I couldn't stand the weather! Too damn cold in the winter AND the summer. I head the joke once, "What are the four seasons in Wisconsin? Almost winter, winter, still winter, not quite winter."

Hi Joyce.

Yeah, I'm in Madison. What you say about the four seasons is pretty close to the truth, but we do get some nice weather during the summer. I like Madison as a city. College towns are pretty nice. Thanks again for all of the support!

Tiger,

Hmmm, so Hood has an idea already?? Does the forgetting things have anything to do with it?

Good job on this chapter. Liked Hood's concern for Rachel. Very believeable.
