Yeah, the prospect of asphyxiating is about the only thing that prevented me.
I'm not sure if we've got army surplus stores around here... see, we have things in which we don't want our civilians having military stuff (and we actually train our armed forces instead of recruiting mass numbers and sending them out to be slaughtered. *coughs* yeaaah, I have a wee bit of an issue with how America runs its armed forces.) Wait, no, there appears to be (have been?) an army surplus store on Portage (pronounced wrong) in Winnipeg, but it was facing bankruptcy in 2007.
OOoo, yup, it's dead. Heeeeey, is that the building where the giant Bay is now? It can't be - the Bay is facing bankruptcy as well (which is totally fail since the Hudson Bay Company has been in existence for longer than Canada itself. In fact, it's one of the oldest companies in the world at 339 years of age!)
(Also, I dunno if the respirators that army surplus or fire fighters have would be compatible with a hazmat suit. Different purposes, after all.)
