Please use this thread to discuss this episode.

When I first watched this episode, I thought it was good and that was it.
However, I decided to watch again and I thought it was very good. I have to be honest, I didn't like Rachel very much, she seemed to tough and insensitive.
I like Hood. He joins the FBI to grieve for his wife's death and he finds a passion in this new job. Unfortunately, he finds so many things in the way that reminds him of her.

I have several questions for you.
The episode was about cloning. Do you think what the man did was right, a grieving father who wants his son back?
Hood and Rachel have been working for more than two months and it seems that he has had several handlers. What do you think happened to them? Did they get tired of Hood constantly getting into trouble because he doesn't know danger?
Is Rachel happy to be his handler?

Yeah, the second time I watched the pilot it magically got better for me too. Strange, hmm? And I agree with you on the Rachel thing - while tripping people sneaking up on your asset is hilarious, it was shown rather cruel light.

Cloning... the father was a moron - like Hood said, his dead son was 'so much more than his constituent chemical parts'!

The other handlers? Probably got annoyed with Hood's helpfulness and lack of concern for his own safety. Kinda hard to do your job when your charge is anti-helping. Rachel, for sure, in the first few episodes wasn't too happy to be assigned to Hood - by Contamination, however, she decides that science is awesome (inevitable, really. Science is awesome.)

Also... guys... shrapnel! fufufufu!

I dunno which is more sad - that you have watched it seventeen times or that you've kept count, XD

Can you quote the entire episode yet, Kalli?

Almost! (Does that just make me sound like more of a FrEAKk?) I can totally re-enact the whole diner scene, and sometimes I say all their lines with them. :P (Preeeety sad.) And omg, you should hear me re-enacting the diner scene, when the arrow gets torn out of Rachel's leg.... "Aaaahhhhgggg...!!! Hood...!!!! Oh my god.......!! Oh my god...!!" ;)

That... would be hilarious.

And I thought me and Justin were bad for imitating Sheldon-on-coffee a few weeks back. The rest of the table ignored us (impressive, considering that we were talking loudly with obnoxious arm movements).

Omg that's exactly what was happenning when I tried to re-enact it to my friends... they totally ignored me 'cause I was yelling, "Give me my phone...!" and such, with obnoxious arm movements. (Then they all left me after.)

lawl! My friends are used to my oddities (and fangirling) by now... and now that Kevin and Justin hang out with us on our three to four hour break, it's even awesomer since I have someone to talk sci-fi and comics with!

Except now school is over and I'm going to be all alone in Winnipeg in a few weeks T.T

Yea, Rachel was pretty pissy about Hood to start. She actually gave him some pretty scathing looks, and always went out of her way to disassociate herself from him in any personal, or even professional, way. "Dr. Hood is not my partner. He is my responsibility." She even interrupts him at the beginning of 'Agro' to make sure that she gets to state what she is and not him.

I guess so Kalli, at least, she got to be his 'girl' for a moment.

I liked the scene in the library when Rachel puts her glasses on and Hood gives her this look...

OMG I love that scene. She's like, "You're disturbing me." And then something like, "I'll let you know I'm signing papers right now because I shot at a man." The dude's like, "Why...??" and she replies, "Because he disturbed me." And then Jacob comes with drinks, just to top it off. ;)

Rachel: (After someone asked to buy her a drink) Before you disturb me, you should know I'm filling out this paperwork because I shot at a man today.
Patron: Why?
Rachel: Because he disturbed me.

Love that scene!

I love both UK and US versions of this episode. I love the slow-paced, bleak realism of the UK version and the fast-paced, warm and good humoured US version. The story itself, and alot of the dialogue remains the same. Hood - either Ian or Jacob is always a blast to watch in action. So thumbs up all around.

From the UK original

Rachel : That was a waste of time.
Hood : In science a negative result is just as important as a possitive one - IT WAS A BLOODY WASTE OF TIME!
